To get an update on the app the bike needs to be switched on (or at least be in standbymode or on the electronic lock)
Your app communicates over the internet with some Stromerserver and the bike communicates directly with this server over a GPRS (mobile) connection called M2M (Machine to Machine) and this last one appears not to be the most reliable...
I have not yet been able to figure out which telecomprovider is being used in the Netherlands but I suspect that they've chosen the cheapest available....
Like the tubes... Tires on the ST2 are real Schwalbes but they saved some 4 euro's per bike on the tubes.... (Sjing Sjeng Shit)
